1 Chronicles 19: Sent to comfort
Read 1 Chronicles 19:1-19 before you meet.
In a few lines
In 1 Chronicles the Hebrew word for kindness, chesed, comes five times. Three times it is the LORD's loving kindness (16:34, 16:41, 17:13); the other two are in one sentence, David's kindness to Hanun and the kindness Hanun's father had shown David (19:2).
The verse to carry
“Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do that which seems good to him.”
1 Chronicles 19:13
To talk about
1. David sent men to comfort Hanun, and the princes said they had come to spy (19:2-3). When has a kindness of yours been misread, or when have you misread someone else's?
2. David sent to meet his humiliated men and told them to stay at Jericho until their beards had grown (19:5). Who around you needs someone to come to them, and time to recover, after being shamed?
3. Joab made his plan and his promise, and then said, "May the LORD do that which seems good to him" (19:13). What are you planning for right now that you need to leave with the LORD?
