1 Chronicles 18: The LORD gave victory
Read 1 Chronicles 18:1-17 before you meet.
In a few lines
Only Chronicles says it: the bronze David took from Hadadezer's cities is the bronze "with which Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and the vessels of bronze" (18:8). Later in the book David tells Solomon the LORD's word to him: "You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight" (22:8).
The verse to carry
“David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness for all his people.”
1 Chronicles 18:14
To talk about
1. "The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went" (18:6, 18:13). Where have you been tempted to take the credit for something God did?
2. The bronze from David's wars went into what Solomon made (18:8), though David was told he would not build the house (22:8). What might you be preparing that someone else will finish?
3. David "executed justice and righteousness for all his people" (18:14). Who in your own circles is easiest to leave out of "all"?
