1 Chronicles 16: Oh give thanks to the LORD
Read 1 Chronicles 16:1-43 before you meet.
In a few lines
The song David gave "by the hand of Asaph" on the day the ark came to rest is in the book of Psalms too, in pieces of Psalms 105, 96 and 106. In one place where they differ, the song turns to the people: "Remember his covenant forever" (16:15), where Psalm 105:8 has "He has remembered". And when it ends, "All the people said, 'Amen'" (16:36).
The verse to carry
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.”
1 Chronicles 16:34
To talk about
1. The song opens, "Oh give thanks to the LORD. Call on his name. Make what he has done known among the peoples" (16:8). What is one thing God has done that you could tell someone this week? Who would you tell?
2. "Remember his covenant forever" (16:15), the song tells the people. What helps you remember what God has promised and done, and what makes you forget?
3. "Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever" (16:34). If you added one line of your own to this song of thanks, what would it say?
